The last blog of the semester

Well, it is time to finish this experience. I have written about a lot of things, I could practice my grammar and enlarge my vocabulary. It is a good experience in general, because you need to use different words and look for synonymous for some words, etc., and the topics are very nice and interesting.

Also, it was very interesting share my ideas and experiences with my partners, and of course, to know other points of view. I appreciate the things that I could know about my partners and how they had the disposition to share their life and thinks.

However, I think that this experience would be better if we would get feedback for each blog, so we could know our mistakes and correct them or will not do it again. But we had a feedback just one time, and it was very superficial, I think.

On the other hand, I think this activity could be done in our houses or in less time, because one and half hour is too much time for just write a blog. Maybe we can use the half of the hour in write the blog and then practice with listening in the other half hour, so we would be practicing English, every week, in three different ways: talking, writing and listening. And if I do not finish our blog in that time, we could finish it in our homes and then we would be practicing in our homes too. Is it a wonderful idea, right? Haha.

Well, well, at any rate I have enjoyed write my blogs and I have learn to think in English, because I have had to write with coherence and order my ideas.

Greetings for all of you,  my readings!

About dreams...

Dears! I had to talk about dreams the last week, but I forgot it, so I going to talk about it today.
Well, in our discipline, psychology, there is a famous author who proposed that dreams were demonstrations of our unconscious. That means that our experiences and feelings which are repressed in our unconscious can out of there through our dreams, but these dreams are not exactly like the experience or feeling that it represent but there are a latent content (experience or feeling) and a manifest content (dream).
This author was the father of Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud. So, this psychological theory is the most interested in dreams, but there are other theories, like cognitve-behavioural therapy, which use dreams in some cases (when the person has recurrent nightmares, for example).
From physiology, the dreams are the result of the mental activity when we are sleeping; this activity is characterized by a sensorimotor imagination which is experienced such as the waking reality.
Other persons think that the dreams are premonitions of the future or revelations of a deity. Mapuche people, for example, though that God gave messages through dreams, so the Machi was chosen when the person had a revelation in a dream.
But "dream" does not only mean an image in our minds when we are sleeping, but it means our ambitions and goals. I think that the people call "dreams" to some ambitions because there are things that they are hoping to reach, but they really don't know if it is possible, because there are ideal things or moments or states. So, the dream, the goal, gives us the motivation to do things and reach it.
I personally thing that the dreams are results of our minds, when we are sleeping, and this results have relation with our experiences and feelings, our hopes and worries, so they could be interpreted and used in therapy with patients who give to te dreams a lot of importance. But I don't agree with the persons that thing about the dreams as a premonition of future or thinks like that.

And I call "dreams" to some of my goals and ambitions in the future, because a think that I don't really know if I will reach all my goals, but I fight for that every day.

Which is my favorite?

Today I must to write about my favorite subject, but I really can't choose one... There have been subjects that I like more than others, but I like almost all my subjects alike.
So, I'm going to tell you about a pair of subjects that I enjoyed a lot. The first of them is Psicología del Desarrollo II. This subject was very funny and didactic, the classes were fast and dynamics and the teaching team were constantly asked us about our opinion; in addition, the topics of the subject are very interesting and important for me (they were about the common development in the humans, what is normal or abnormal and how we get our knowledge), because I want to work with children in the future. But what I liked more than all was the main work, because we had to visit a kinder garden and share with the kids, that was beautiful for me.

The second subject is Psicología Social (I and II). This is about the relationships between the persons and how we influence and educate each other throughout our life. I think that all we have a history of life, a lot of experiences, that make us who we are, and all these experiences have been related with other persons, all our life have been in contact with others, we are social animals and all what we created like humans is with others and for regulate and improve our relations: culture, beliefs, religions, laws, etc.

I really like my career and I enjoy learning about us, the humans, and how we are, how we think, how we are in contact with others... well, how we become who we are.

Our first holidays

Was really dificult chose a photo; I thought about it so much and finally chose this. Is a photo of my boyfriend and I in a bus.
I took this photo when we were traveling to Valparaiso and it shows how we spend time and figth versus the boredom.
I like it for two reasons: it reminds me our first holidays alone, the last July. We went to Valparaiso because is a beautiful city, full of things to do, like walk on the hills, ride trolley, visit the monuments and take the classic elevators; also you have a lot of cheap eating options and many cheap lodgings. Well, Valparaiso is World Heritage.
And I like this photo because is the perfect example of my relationship with my boyfriend, because we are laughing almost all the time and we try to enjoy every moment together. We are a lovely couple haha.

Well, I had introduced you to my boyfriend, his name is Guido and I have to say that I really in love with him (I'm sorry for my romanticism haha) and I hope to have a lot of photos of our holidays in the future :)

Pokemon, first generation

I don`t play games so much but actually I play games with my boyfriend, because he likes them very much. But, there is a game that I used to play when I was ten years old: Pokemon! This is a role-playing game and it is about a young that want to be a pokemon trainer.
The pokemon are creatures like animals, so they could be wilds or pets, and when you have one as your pet, you can fight with it versus other trainers or you can just care of it. If you fight with it, the pokemon levels up and it gets stronger.
The targets of the game are beat down The Team Rocket and become the champion of the pokemon league.
I like this game because is really funny, it was the first game that I really dedicated to play and... I won it! Twice!  I played it again the last year.
I invite you to play it but I warn you that you`ll spend a lot of time of your life jajaja.

My dear netbook

I don`t have a lot of pieces of technology, because I really don`t know how to use them, but I love my netbook.
It is a little laptop, so you can read and writes documents, you can connect to internet, you can see movies or another type of video, but you can`t insert CDs, because it is too little. Also you can keep a lot of things: pictures, videos, songs, documents, etc. And it includes a camera, so you can talk with other people or take pictures with it.
My netbook was my parents`s gift for Christmas, three years ago. They gave me it because I was starting the University, so I needed a computer that would be portable (I needed work in the Universtity). Remember I was so happy when I saw it, I loved it.
Since that moment, I use it every day, for all I need to do for University and also I use it to play games and surfing the internet, especially when I am at home. Actually I don`t carry it to University.
I think that I can`t live without my netbook, because actually all we need to be connected or created digital documents, so if I wouldn`t have it, I constantly would have to borrow a computer. But I don`t use it all day long, I don`t need to do that.

The Sixth Sense

The Sixth Sense (1999) is a suspense/horror film directed and written by N. Nigth Shyamalan, who directed Stuart Litlle (1999) and After Earth (2013) too. This movie was winner of many awards:

  • Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films (2000): Best Horror Film and Best Perfomande by a younger actor/actress (Haley Joel Osment).
  • Awards of the Japanese Academy (2000): Best Foreign Film, USA.
  • Blockbuster Entertaiment Award (2000): Favorite Actor - Newcomer (Haley Joel Osment), Favorite Actor - Suspense (Bruce Willis) and Favorite Supporting Actress (Toni Collette).
  • Bram Stoker Awards (2000): Screenplay (M. Nigth Shyamalan).
  • Cannes Film Festival (2003): DVD Design Award.
  • Empire Awards, UK (2000): Best Director (M. Nigth Shyamalan)

Furthermore, it had six nominations for Oscars and a lot of other awards.

The film is about a child psychologist called Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis), who begin to work with a litlle boy called Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), whose cases is similar to a former patient of Malcolm: he has hallucinations. The kid sees dead people who ask him for help, then together discovered that those people are not hallucinations, they are ghosts and Cole has the ability to perceive them. So Malcolm suggests to Cole that he should try to find a purpose for his ability by communicating with the ghosts and maybe help them with thier unfinished business on Earth. And well, you have to see the rest of the movie.
It like to me because I like horror and suspense movies and it keeps you in suspense until the ending.
